Maternity Reflexology
- Birth
One can use Reflexology after once you are 37 week to prepare your body and mind for labour and the birth of your baby.
There are a number of reflexes that I massage to help your body to cope with the change it needs to go through for labour to take place. Your body will do these things naturally, but with some help with reflexology it will support the process.
The reflexes you might expect a Maternity Reflexoloigst to work from week 37 to 40 are:
| Reflex |
the aim |
| Pelvis reflex |
to soften and widen for baby to pass through |
| Hormone reflexes |
Stimulate to help the onset of labour and
ensure a balanced approach to the hormones like oxytocin
which encourages contractions to start. |
| Head, neck and spine reflexes |
Relax mother and baby and stimulate
the messages from the brain and spine to the rest of
the body. |
| Cervix reflex |
to encourage dilation |
| Uterus reflex |
to encourage contractions |
| Baby reflex |
to give them energy for the birth |
Baby's Here! Postnatal Reflexology
Once your baby is born, your body still
has a lot to deal with. Reflexology can smooth the way and may help you avoid some conditions and can help others to pass by without drama:
loss of sleep, strange routines, breast feeding, blocked
ducts, mastitis, stress, frustration, tiredness, loss
of energy and some others.
I offer a postnatal mobile service to your home
in which you can breast feed or sleep through your treatment
and have your baby by your side.
Alternatively, lots of new mums bring their babies with
them to my practice and are able to
attend to their baby's needs whilst enjoying treatment.
After birth Reflexology may help
with:
- Stabilizing bodyweight
- Insomnia
- Replacing energy loss
- Aid milk flow
- Caesarian recovery
- Post natal depression
- Stress and tiredness
- Helping with mastitis/blocked milk ducts
- Helping uterus return to it's original state.
